When talking aboutThe Legend of Zeldaseries, it’s hard to think of any romance that doesn’t focus on the main duo of Link and Zelda. Yet, over the past couple of decades, the world of Hyrule has featured many sweet and unique couplings in addition to our beloved hero and titular princess. Of course, romance is far from being the main focus ofZeldagames, but even when the fate of the world is in danger, these emotions can help bring a sense of immersion and fun to the journey.
Many of theZeldagames are now playable on Switch 2, thanks to the Nintendo Switch Online service. This makes it easy for many fans to enjoy going back to past adventures that they may not have seen, andit’s a great time to keep an eye out for some of these romantic storylines. Whether from newer games likeBreath of the Wildor older entries likeOracle of Ages, theLegend of Zeldafranchise has a large variety of unique characters and relationships to see.

10Moe And Maggie Are Definitely The Most Unusual Couple
From The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Yes, it could be debated that Maggie needs professional help for Stockholm syndrome, but from a broadly romantic viewpoint, Moe and Maggie can be a relatively sweet story. InWind Waker, Maggie is one of several girls who were kidnapped and held prisoner by monsters in the Forsaken Fortress. Moe happens to be one of those monsters.
Monsters inZeldagames don’t often have deep personalities, which could be part of what makes this story so fascinatingfor us as players. After Maggie is rescued, she pines for her Moblin love, and the two write letters to each other. Of course, Moe’s love letter is still somewhat disturbing, with the line “I want to eat you for dinner.”

9Anton And Linda Were A Cute Couple That Needed A Nudge
Another romance taking place in thefun world ofThe Wind Wakercomes about thanks to Link’s camera skills. Anton and Linda are residents of Windfall Island who seemingly don’t even know each other, at least not well. Anton walks around town and passes by Linda multiple times.
It’s during a photo challenge quest that we find the hidden longing between the two, and anotherphoto quest later on finally solidifies things and brings them together. Whether or not Link is the matchmaker or the quest-giver Lenzo is the true behind-the-scenes Cupid, Anton and Linda finally unite, and we are left to believe they have a happily ever after.

Ambi constructed a large tower to act as a beacon to guide her beloved back home, but sadly Cap’n had become trapped in the Sea of Storms and was lost for many years. InOracle of Ages, we see the conclusion of their story as we help them see each other again.

Sadly, Ambi and Cap’n cannot be together due to her obligations as Queen and his life as a pirate captain.Of course, his being undead may also present a slight problem.

Unfortunately, the corruption of the mirror transforms Yeta into a boss named Blizzeta and a battle ensues. Thankfully, after her defeat, she returns to her form as Yeta rather than dying.Yeto then tells Yeta that her own beauty is much greater than the beauty of the mirror shard, and they share a lovely moment of true love while providing a heart container for Link.

6Honey and Darling Love To Show Off Their Love For Each Other
From The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time And Majora’s Mask
Though it can be said thatMajora’s Maskis one of the darkestgames in theZeldafranchise, it does include a portion of one of the most PDA-filled romances in the series. Generally believed (but not confirmed) to first be seen as the dancing couple inOcarina of Time, the pair officially show up inMajora’s Maskto run a shop in East Clock Town.
Their business is a game shop with minigames for players to enjoy, but really, they are much more focused on each other. The couple is always seen hugging and dancing in circles, while telling each other how they are so handsome or beautiful.

5Link And Malon Have Fan Theories Pointing To Wedding Bells
A Coupling Over Multiple Games
There are many fan theories related to Link and Malon’s relationship, mostly centering around theidea that in the child-Link timeline he eventually goes back and marries Malon.
First seen inOcarina of Time,Malon and her fatherTalon play an instrumental part in Link’s journey, and Malon introduces Link to the horse Epona. At one point,Talon even asks Link if he wants to marry Malon, though he says he is just kidding.

Majora’s Maskshows Malon in the form of the sisters Romani and Cremia, both of whom have crushes on Link. At the beginning of the game, Link also has Epona, which suggests that his friendship with Malon and Talon continued.
Other appearances arise inOracle of Seasons,Four Swords Adventures, andMinish Cap.These theories could fill an entire article on their own, but ultimately, it certainly seems plausible that, in this timeline, Link and Malon’s relationship became one of true love and eventually marriage.

3Link And Mipha May Make An Even Better Pair Than Link And Zelda
In The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
Link and Mipha are revealed inBreath of the Wildto have been childhood friends, but their connection may have been even stronger than that. Of course, we learn that Mipha hadstrong romantic feelings for Linkand many theories and speculations suggest that Link shared those feelings.
Unfortunately, the world that these two star-crossed lovers live in is not an easy one for Mipha and Link to have a relationship, particularly with the relationship that Link has with Princess Zelda during the game and Mipha’s death.Under different circumstances, however, they could easily have become the greatest love story of the series.
2Link And Zelda’s Relationship Grows In BOTW And TOTK
From The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
ThoughBreath of the Wildbegins with Link and Zelda having a pretty platonic relationship, over the course ofBOTWandTOTK, their bond deepens significantly. Zelda confides in Link, telling him things that she could never tell anyone else, even her father. Link would willingly sacrifice himself to protect her, and clearly has much stronger feelings than just loyalty to her title.
The two have always been bound by fate, andthe relationship they share in these two games is a powerful symbol of love. Despite never being shown as an outright confirmation of love, it is easy to believe these destined companions to have feelings for each other.
1Link And Zelda’s Most Moving Romance
From The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword
The only love story between Link and Zelda powerful enough to get an official trailerfromNintendowas that ofSkyward Sword. Their love is often hinted at in games, but never depicted as a confirmed thing in the way it is for this game. Zelda and Link share happy moments together, confide in each other, and sacrifice for each other.
Zelda still spends her time as a damsel in distress, but inSkyward Swordit feels different. Link isn’t just working to save some princess or Hyrule, he is rescuing the love of his life in a very personal way. This love is the foundation of the game, and the greatest of all romances inThe Legend of Zelda.
