AI Darth Vader is the latest and greatest Fortnite technology that arrived via the most recent update. Here’s what to know!
When Fortnite fans woke up this morning to the v34.10 update, no one expected an AI Darth Vader would spawn into the game. While NPCs are common in the game, this character represents something unlike anything you’ve experienced. Darth Vader can react to your voice and character, which has already created viral moments.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new Sith Lord NPC, including where to find him and some of our favorite moments.
Where can I find AI Darth Vader?
Anyone looking to experience Fortnite’s latest advancements in AI can head to one of the three locations outlined above. Upon landing at one of these spots, you must defeat the boss character, who will join your side and allow you to interact with him. After recruiting him, you can speak to Vader and receive responses accordingly.
For example, you’re able to request more information about him, which prompts a response regarding the Republic’s fall and the Empire’s rise. As you can imagine, Darth Vader has plenty of colorful responses and reactions to your character and the words you utter.
How did Epic Games program this new character?
Epic Games worked directlywith Google Gemini and Eleven Labs to bring AI Darth Vader to life. This partnership is in a test phase, during which players can communicate with him. Children cannot use the feature without parental permission.
More explicit players may want to see how Lord Vader would react to certain words and phrases, curse words, for example. However, Epic Games programmed the character not to swear unless you are theFortnite Icon Series member, Kathleen “Loserfruit” Belsten, who got Darth Vaderto say the f-word.
Epic Games designed this character to avoid gore, addiction, terrorism, politics, and other subjects. Vader will also avoid the vast majority of curse words and the touchy subject of the atrocities committed upon the younglings.
Additionally, on thetopic of self-harm, the Sith Lord will offer words of affirmation and encouragement, including advice to seek professional assistance.
