Hello Kitty Island Adventurehas finally come to both Steam and Nintendo Switch, bringing in swathes of new players who have never had the chance to play before because of its Apple Arcade exclusivity.

If you’re one of these new players, then diving in can seem a little daunting. This is especially true when it comes to everything you need to craft, because resources are scarce, especially early into a playthrough. It can be hard to figure out the best way to use your materials, but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure Crafting Table

Essential crafting materials in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

While it’s always advisable to become a virtual hoarder and pick up absolutely everything you see, some resources are more worth seeking out than others. These are materials that are used in a lot of different recipes or can help to create other mid-level resources you’re going to need later on.

Here’s a brief list of useful materials that you should hoard, along with where they can be found:

Not all of these resources are useful when it comes to the items featured below, but trust me, you’ll be glad for the pointers sooner or later.

How to craft items in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Before you can craft items inIsland Adventure, you’ll need to complete the main quest “Power Up the Gate”, which will provide access to the Crafting Table next to Chococat’s tent.

Once you’ve unlocked the Crafting Table, the world is your oyster, so they say. As long as you’ve unlocked a Crafting Plan through leveling up friendships, finding them in Treasure Chests, or completing quests, you’ll then have the option to craft that item once you’ve got the resources.

There’s also a second Crafting Table in Gemstone Town, located inside Gemstone Mountain. However, this is a relatively late-game area, so you’ll likely be using Chococat’s Crafting Table a lot before you reach that point.

The best items to craft in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

There are a staggering number of possible items to craft inIsland Adventure. So, let’s get rid of the fluff and focus on the important items that will help you in the long run.

Flippers

This is an early-game recipeyou’llunlock once you’ve located Keroppipast the Island Resort gate and it is one of the first things you’ll do concerning him.

Flippersare incredibly useful, allowing you to swim in open waters and explore more of the map without the constant annoyance of falling into the water and ending up exactly where you started.

Using Flippers to swim in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Thankfully, Flippers are pretty simple to make, and Keroppi will actually give you one of the two necessary items that you need:

Fishing Rod

This is another easy-to-unlock and relatively easy-to-craft recipe that you get byprogressing your friendship with Badtz-maru to level 3.

The uses of the Fishing Rod are fairly obvious, and since many characters like to receive fish as a daily gift, you’ll quickly be able to hoard a hefty supply of gifts just through fishing. Plus, the fishing mechanics in Island Adventure are nice, so it can be a relaxing way to pass the time while you wait for resources to respawn.

Here’s what you’ll need to gather up to craft a Fishing Rod once you’ve unlocked the Plan:

Net

Once you open up the Spooky Swamp and reachlevel 2 friendship with Keroppi, you’ll be able to complete the “Open the Nature Preserve” quest. Through this quest, Badtz-maru will provide the Plan for a Net.

While the Net isn’t strictly necessary for progression, it opens up the fun new pastime of Critter Catching, through which you’re able to fill the Nature Reserve with all cute little creatures. This is essentially the same as the Museum in any other cozy title, but with a Keroppi-style twist.

Net in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Here’s what you’ll need to make a Net and how to get each item:

Snorkel

ASnorkelcan only be crafted once you’ve reachedlevel 6 friendship with Kuromi, so you’ll need to ply her with Pumpkins if you want to start diving.

Swimming using the Flippers is all well and good, but having the ability to dive opens up a whole new underwater world and allows you to meet back up with Hangyodon in Rainbow Reef. Therefore, the Snorkel is essential and should be crafted as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, the materials needed to craft the Snorkel are hard to come by or require you to have access to mid-game areas, so this one will definitely take some effort.

Here’s what you need:

Pickaxe

While exploring the Island Adventure map, you’ll come across boulders that can be broken open to complete quests or otherwise reveal a Treasure Chest inside. For this purpose, a Pickaxe can be craftedafter you’ve completed the quest “Revive the Oasis.”

If you’re after a more minimalistic aesthetic, you can also use the Pickaxe to remove Treasure Chests that have already been opened. Either way, this is a useful tool and should be crafted as soon as it becomes available.
