Let’s check a look

Indie game publisher Devolver Digital has announced that it will still be broadcasting its annual summer press conference this year, despite various cancellations across the board from staple events such as E3, gamescom, and Paris Games Week.

“Devolver Direct 2020 is happening,”said the irreverent publisher on Twitter.“We’re not sure when due to THESE UNCERTAIN TIMES… Should be a good one though.”

Infamously, Devolver’s take on such events is a much more cinematic affair than the typical E3 “presser.” In recent years, we have been introduced to dead-eyed Devolver executive Nina Struthers (performed with gritty aplomb by actor Mahria Zook) who has taken to the stage armed with a steely-gaze and The Big Book of E3 Soundbites.

Each of Struthers’ intense and strange conferences has eventually broken down into an eye-gouging circus of hyper-surrealism and excessive gore. Despite the general downbeat tone of the planet right now, I hardly expect this year’s affair to be any different.
