The short answer? Yes

WithDestiny 2: Lightfallbringing all sorts of folks into the mix, including former long-timers and lapsed players, it’s understandable that some people have forgotten whatDestiny 2actually supports at this point. Here’s a quick rundown of all of the cross-play and cross-save systems present inDestiny 2.

DoesDestiny 2have cross-play? (FAQ)

Destiny 2does support cross-play, with limitations. If you’re just looking at matchmaking, “non-competitive activities and game modes, such as Strikes and social spaces, will matchmake across all available platforms and will not be separated into distinct pools,” according to Bungie.

To play with people you know, you may need to register other players as “Bungie Friends” here.

Do PC players and console players play together inDestiny 2PVP?

As for competitive play, Bungie has an informative breakdown of their stance on it here: “Competitive game modes such as Gambit and Crucible playlists will be divided into two matchmaking pools, one for console players (PlayStation, Xbox, and Stadia) and one for PC players. If a console player joins a fireteam containing PC players (Steam, Microsoft Store), the fireteam will be matchmade into the PC player pool for the activity. Additionally, Trials of Osiris will require players to have Cross Play enabled to participate.”

Can you disable cross-play inDestiny 2?

PlayStation players can disable cross-play simply by going to the in-game menu and disabling it.

Xbox players need to do a bit of legwork:

DoesDestiny 2have cross-progression (cross-save)? (FAQ)

This is whereDestiny 2arguably shines the most.Full cross-progression is supported inDestiny 2, thanks to the Bungie.net account system.Basically all you need to do is log in at Bungie.net, go to your profile/settings, and link all of your applicable accounts: Bungie will do the rest. PlayStation, Steam and Xbox are supported (as was Stadia before that bit the bullet).

Here is how Bungie describes cross-progression, in their own words: “Cross Save enables you to choose oneDestiny 2player account (your Active Account) that you may access from wherever you choose to play. Although this is not a permanent action, we did build this new feature as something that players will activate just once to support a hobby that spans more than one platform whereDestiny 2can be played.”

Sadly, you cannot extend that same cross-progression system over to digital licenses. You will need to re-buy the content you want to play on all platforms, outside of season passes: “Destiny 2expansions (ex:Forsaken,Shadowkeep) do not transfer between platforms with Cross Save.Destiny 2Season Passes (ex: Season of the Undying) do move between platforms on the characters they were redeemed on.” There was an exception with Stadia, but since it’s dead forever, you won’t need to worry about it.

The same limitation goes for Silver (the microtransaction currency), which “must be spent on the platform it was purchased.”
