OpenStreetMap , the devoid wiki human beings map , is a terrific little project that has become enormously successful . Now , the team behind it has releaseda account which explain how it ’s shift over the last eight years — and some of the results are damn pretty .
The database now carry over 21 million miles of road data point and 78 million construction . When you consider that all that data has been committed to the database voluntarily , it ’s kind of stupefying . But the best spot of the report has to be this map of edits over the last eight year .
The coloring scale leaf ranges from green for honest-to-goodness , through blue then pink , to white for late . At the worldwide level it looks pretty ; zoom in and it ’s fascinating .
