First time in Division I Dota, Army Geniuses are showing everyone up, beating the likes of Bleed Esports, Geek Slate and now Blacklist.

We are now halfway through the South-East Asian Dota Pro Circuit (DPC SEA) and the Division II upstarts, Army Geniuses (AG), are looking absolutely stunning. After taking down Bleed Esports and Geek Slate, AG defeated yet another SEA behemoth, Blacklist Rivalry. With this win, AG are one step closer to punching their ticket to Berlin Major.

Blacklist Rivalry vs Army Geniuses series breakdown

Game one: Army Geniuses win

Game one was completely one-sided. It only ran for 25 mins with a final score of 4-25 in favor of Army Geniuses. The match MVP goes to AG carry Muhammad “inYourdreaM” Rizky. His Faceless Void had a 9-0 KDA and the highest net worth in the game of 18k gold. However, Daud “db-” Budiawan offlane Pugna deserves a special recognition. Like the Void, he had zero deaths in game and the second highest net worth overall, which is admirable considering the Pugna pick in a game against Terrorblade and Pangolier.

Army Geniuses are promoted to Division I DPC for the very first time

Army Geniuses, an Indonesian-based Dota 2 team, is promoted to Division I for the first time after going undefeated in SEA DPC Division II.

Game two: Army Geniuses win

A huge contrast to the first game as Blacklist mustered up a stronger fight. Alas they still fell short. Despite a number of hiccups coming out of Army Geniuses, the gold advantage never left their side. Blacklist reattempted the Terrorblade play. With the help of a Storm Spirit, they were able to make AG sweat. However, once the match went to the very late game (58 minutes), there was no stopping AG’s hyper range carries Sniper and Nature’s Prophet. Db- stole the show once again, especially with his stylish way of ending the game.

Former Division II Dota team is now top three in SEA DPC

After dwelling in Division II Dota for many years, Army Geniuses were finally promoted to Division I for Tour 2 of DPC SEA. That in itself is already a huge accomplishment. Yet AG are going beyond expectations. They were pitted against the strongest for their first four series, but only lost to Talon Esports. With their current 3-1 scoreline, AG are now top three in Division I DPC SEA. They will next face fellow ex-Division II dweller, Polaris Esports on Mar. 24, 10:00 PM PST.
