Ghost Recon Frontlineis an upcomingfree-to-play tactical massive PvP shooter, with Ubisoft seeing it as a “forever-evolving game.” In other words, players should expect a plethora of content drops, seasonal updates, and more to keep it fresh. While there are a lot of unknowns at the moment,Ghost Recon Frontlinefeatures character classes, tactical tools, various game modes (though the battle royale-like Expedition is the flagship experience of the title), and more to offer players from day one and beyond.
As Ubisoft looks to get feedback from fans via some tests in the future, it remains unclear how muchGhost Recon Frontlinefully launches with. Still, it seems to be substantial given what is indeed known, such as the ability to utilize full class-platform support and the expansive Drakemoor Island. Players will be able to customize each of their character classes, utilizing contractors with differing skill paths and swapping between them on the fly.

Each class is described as “highly specialized,” with each having a differing focus in terms of tactical roles on the battlefield. This goes further when players are able to utilize and build off each other’s skills and abilities in battle. And asGhost ReconFrontline grows, it seems all of those capabilities will grow alongside it. This ever-evolving worldofGhost Recon Frontlinewill see new game modes, characters, tactical tools, and more added in each season.
Ghost Recon Frontline Seasons and Updates
IfGhost Recon Frontlinewas a more traditional battle royale game, then it would be a bit more obvious what fans could expect from each of these. Yet Expedition features several major changes from it, such as the lack of a converging circle, dynamic goals, and the need for extraction–and that’s not to account for the other gameplay options. New game modes could imply seasonal events, likeApex Legends’ upcoming Halloween event, or it could imply more permanent additions like a traditional multiplayer game.
New characters mean new skills, and this will likely mimicApex Legendsin some regard. That’s not to say it’s goingfull-on Hero Shooter, but that adding and expanded the available contractors inGhost Recon Frontlinewill keep the focus on tactics at the forefront. The tactical tools are another big question mark, as the game already has aspects like turrets confirmed, so what it could even add is considerably enticing for the game’s longevity.
At the end of the day,Ghost Recon Frontlineis incredibly different from past entries. It remains to be seen how well it brings everything together, but if done right, then perhapsGhost Recon Frontlinewill establish itself as something unique in themassive PvP shooter space.
Ghost Recon Frontlineis in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
