Gwyneth Paltrowis reflecting on what she loves most about her daughter.
Speaking to PEOPLE for this week’s cover story, the actress, 51, revealed what she enjoys the most about her 19-year-old daughter Apple. Paltrow shares her daughter and her son Moses, 17, with her ex-husband, Coldplay singerChris Martin, 46.
“I mean, she’s just so much fun to be with,” Paltrow says of Apple. “It’s so wonderful having a daughter because you have this amazing best friend and we like to do the same stuff, and she’s so funny and she’s so smart. It’s amazing.”
“Then, I’m kind of in awe of this woman that she’s become and with all of her points of view that are really differentiated. She’s really strong and it’s amazing.”

Although she says her kids have different personalities, Paltrow reveals that there are several things they have in common. “My children are similar in the ways that they’re both incredibly sensitive and empathetic. They really can feel people’s stuff very permeable in that way.”
“They’re both tall and they both have very interesting ways of seeing the world, and they’re different in the ways that they are. My daughter’s very much of an extrovert. My son is an introvert. They like to do very different things, but then I don’t know, then they both love to snowboard and they both love music, and they love their friends.”
“I think Apple’s more like her dad in that way. I think Moses and I are more, we’re happy kind of being home and being more internal, but I think they’ve both gotten, hopefully, the best of both of us, and hopefully we’ve been able to minimize our s—– traits having passed those down,” she continues.
“They are both very intrigued. They both really like fashion as an art form and as a form of expression. It’s really interesting to see them both choose that. My son, really it’s kind of how he tells the world who he is through his cool style.”

Although Apple is in college now, Paltrow says that they were still able to make some special time together recently. “Our last bonding trip was when I dropped her off at college for her sophomore year,” she reveals. “We had a great time, but it was also very bittersweet. I hated leaving her this time even more than the first year for some reason.”
In October, the Goop founder spoke withBustleabout her two kids, revealing that they had very different approaches to the college admissions process. “Apple was very clear on where she wanted to go, and did everything in her power to make it happen and manifested it,” Paltrow said.
“Moses is like, ‘I don’t know, I like this and I like that, and let’s go back and see this, let’s go back and see that one.’ He’s more relaxed about it. He’s kind of like ‘I’ll be happy wherever; it’s fine,’ which is a great feeling.”
“And it generally seems to work out,” the mom of two said of the college process. “What I’ve observed is that sometimes you’re like, ‘Oh, no, this person didn’t get into there, and it seemed like such a great fit.'”
“But in the end, the college knows what they’re doing, and they end up, I think, taking the kids that are going to really thrive. I think they have it down to a science,” she said.
