You will be kicked if you are AFK for more than 15 minutes.
Helldivers 2 has been a rampaging success with a large playerbase shortly after release. The game’s peak player count is just shy of half a million, but at the rate it’s progressing it might soon cross that threshold. Arrowhead Game Studios has released Helldivers 2 Patch 1.000.11 that provides a host of crash fixes as well as improves kicking of AFK players from the game.

The latest update will significantly improve the in-game experience for players. While the game has received positive feedback, there have been issues of crashes and broken missions. Helldivers 2 Patch 1.000.11 aims to fix most of these problems. Players were simply unable to pick certain missions and the latest update hopes to fix this issue.
Possibly the biggest change is the AFK game kick. Now when players are AFK for more than 15 minutes, they will be kicked from the servers. This will definitely ease the load on the servers and is a welcome move to allow active players to play more.

In the same blogpost, the developers have also acknowledged a few known issues which means they are working on solving these too.
