DirectX 12 in Apex Legends is causing a crash for players whenever they use a ring console. Here’s how you’re able to return to DirectX 11.

Apex Legends launched support for DirectX 12 in Season 15, but it hasn’t been the most stable release. It’s now near the end of Season 16, and many Apex Legends players are facing several technical issues. These issues range from laggy servers, crashes, errors, and in-game problems like missing audio. One of the major issues that turned up recently is the game crashing when players running DirectX 12 use ring consoles.

Some users found that reverting to DirectX 11 solves many of these problems. Alternatively, players can simply choose to increase the model detail setting to an option that’s higher than low.

Revert back to DirectX 11 through launch options

In order to revert to DirectX 11, all you need to do is remove the text used toenable DirectX 12from the launch options. Depending on the platform or client you’re accessing Apex Legends from, there are different ways to access launch options. Here’s how to go about it.

If you’re running DirectX 12, then there’s the “-eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX12.json” line without the quotation marks under the launch options. Remove this line and you’re back to running DirectX 11.
