In an announcement on October 8th, 2020 on its website, PAX let gamers of all sorts know that their Unplugged event would not be happening this year. After monitoring COVID and its progress around the country as well as “the mandates on social gatherings from local officials,“in Pennsylvania, PAX made the difficult choice to cancel its live event. “With safety being our number one priority, we are unfortunately canceling this year’s PAX Unplugged. The next PAX Unplugged will take place in 2021,” PAX mentioned in the news. And unfortunately unlike some other PAX events andAGDQ 2021 that will be online, PAX Unplugged will not be.
Although some gamers have found that they can play thetabletop games onlinewith others from their playgroups, it would be nearly impossible to set up an entire Unplugged event for online only. Fans can still find some workshops for painting miniatures and PAX is “looking into ways we can celebrate the games and community you look forward to every year at the show.” PAX Unplugged is also making merch available for purchase.
For those who are look for some tabletop fun this year in spite of PAX’s cancellation, they can look forward toSteam’s Digital Tabletop Festlater on this month.
