Most of our readers were happy to get the early news on the anticipated follow-up to Atlus’ prior hit,Persona 3, but some were quick to call me out, questioning my review.

Get this: By the time most of you had just come across your first boss, I had almost finishedPersona 4twice. Once with debug code that Atlus sent me early, and the second time with a retail copy. I got the good ending that last time.

It was a surprise to me, too! But when I finished it and saw what a fantastic game it was, I was not surprised to see just about a dozen more outlets follow with giving it a perfect score. OnMetacritic, the game still stands with a “universal acclaim” rating. I call ’em like I see ’em.
