Not too long ago, the development team at Niantic officially announced theMew “Field Research” quest’s release datein the popular mobile augmented reality game,Pokemon GO, with fans around the globe understandably keeping their PokeBalls at the ready in anticipation of the creature’s arrival. Now, images of the ultra rare Psychic-type involved in the forthcoming quest have surfaced online to give players a sneak peek at what’s in store.
As seen in the tweet below from the Twitter user andPokemon GOfan known as “MYSTIC7”, it looks as if Niantic recently updated the ARG’s page on the Apple App Store, with one of the new screenshots included by the game developer being an encounter screen with Mew. While it’s quite possible that this is not actual gameplay and is just an image mock-up, it’s still exciting for many, for not only is it the first look of the highly coveted Pocket Monster, but also it seemingly confirms that players can catch it with regular PokeBalls.
ForPokemonGOnewcomers, Legendary creatures such as Lugia orMewtwocan only be caught with the use of Premier Balls, which led some to believe such a requirement would be the case for Mew, as it is also considered to have a Legendary status. As it looks, however, with Mew not being associated with raids like the other two Pocket Monsters, it makes sense that players would be able to use PokeBalls, Great Balls, and Ultra Balls to try and capture it.
While the above image of Mew will definitely be rousing for manyPokemon GOtrainers, some may simply be more interested in learning as much as they can about how the forthcoming Field Research quests will operate. Thankfully,a recent dataminehas shed more light on the feature, unveiling the tasks involved in these quests and the rewards that will be doled out to players for completing them. As it stands, though, with fans having clamored for Mew’s addition ever since the ARG came out, it’s safe to say that the Legendary will be the main draw of tomorrow’s update.
Pokemon GOis available now for Android and iOS devices.
