A new car: Outlaw

Season 4 will feature a new car, Outlaw. Wanted for boost stealing and demo hunting, Outlaw is available in Rocket Pass Premium with a bunch of cosmetics. The cowboy-themed car’s loot includesNo-Name Topper, Tanker Wheels, Amikoo Decal, and Lava Boost.

New Arena

A new Rocket League season just doesn’t feel the same without a brand new arena. Season 4 will bring a dusty trail for Rocket League players with the Deadeye Canyon.

Several new LTMs

The new season will feature at least three new LTMs. The 2v2 Heatseeker will go live one day after Season 4’s launch, on August 12. A new LTM, Speed Demon, will be in-game on August 19. Speed Demon has faster cars, lower respawn timers and demos on contact. Spring Loaded, the Rumble variant that is currently a mutator option in Private Matches, will also be added to the LTM mix later this month.

While the in-game updates and cosmetics are exciting, Psyonix has also revealed a bunch of new features.

Streamer-Safe Music

With Athena launching her own music in-game, there is a need to ensure players can turn off copyrighted music. With Season 4, Rocket League players can change their audio settings to ‘Streamer-Safe Music’ where the game will mute DMCA-protected audio and replace it with free-to-use music. This is a forward-thinking move that will helpcontent creatorsand streamers alike.

Athena debuts Rocket League’s new Creator Garages

Athena’s Creator Garage bundle features six items curated by the Queen of Rocket League herself.

Party Rank Restrictions

Players who queue in ranked matches in undersized parties will have to be within three ranks of each other. So if a part of two queues up for a 3v3 competitive match, the two players will need to be within a certain rank of each other in order to queue. Brand new players can only queue with players who are Ranked Gold 3 and below when in an undersized party.

This change will ensure balanced matches and is a positive step for new players playing ranked. Not having to play against high-ranked opponents will give them a sense of confidence and a semblance of balance.

Forfeit option in Casual matches

Finally, Psyonix is adding the forfeit option, already available in competitive matches, to casual matches. This means players who regularly leave casual matches will receive matchmaking bans.

The upcoming update has a heavy focus on improving the matchmaking experience for players. Between Party Rank restrictions and the forfeit option, all players will see significant improvements in their matchmaking experience.
