We’re about to have a colossal comic book battle at the box office, folks. This kind of thing just doesn’t happen anymore, especially when it comes to DC vs. Marvel.

Up first on July 11, we haveSuperman, starring David Corenswet as the titular hero, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicolas Hoult as the villainous and bald Lex Luthor. And then two weeks later,The Fantastic Four: First Stepstakes the stage with Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Human Torch.

Superman and The Fantastic Four

While both are comic book films featuring decades-old and beloved characters with multiple movie iterations between them, the two could not be more different.Supermanis James Gunn’s foray into building the new DC Universe of films, whileFantastic Four: First Stepsis Marvel Studios’ attempt to integrate the First Family into the MCU.

The stakes are high for both, though. Both films have the responsibility of “righting the ship” for both companies, as DC fumbled its previous extended universe, and the MCU has had some very negative attention surrounding it over the past few years sinceAvengers: Endgame.

Supermanis looking to set the stage for what’s to come for DC, including additional characters like Krypto the dog, Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner.Fantastic Fourwill finally feature a proper portrayal of Galactus, along with the robot pal H.E.R.B.I.E. and others, as the team will somehow join the greater MCU ahead of ensemble movies likeAvengers: Doomsday.

For what it’s worth, both movies look very promising, both from an aesthetic and cast perspective. Both films have strong actors in the cast list, and both look a bit like their comic book counterparts come to life, and that’s exciting enough for fans.

Personally, I thinkSupermanwill bring home the bacon for DC. It feels like there’s a lot of hype around this hero, who’s arguably the most recognizable in the world, getting a fresh start. But don’t count out the First Family. That movie will make a ton of cash, too. Let’s just hope they’re both awesome.

And so now, I ask you, dear reader, which film are you more excited for? Which one do you think will take home the bigger box office numbers? Let us know in the poll and in the comments below, and make sure to bring your popcorn.
