Phainon’s release date as a playable character in Honkai Star Rail is confirmed to be onJuly 2, 2025. Trailblazers can pull on his limited character banner as soon as the Version 3.4 update goes live on their servers.
His resemblance to Honkai Impact 3rd’sKevin Kaslanais something that long-time fans of the franchise immediately noticed as soon as Amphoreus released, but Phainon’s splash art deepens this connection even more.
They even have the same wings, but Phainon seems to have a spectral form (or reflection) that has the wings. If you look closely, Phainon is standing back-to-back with a glowing version of himself.The postalso refers to him as a “Nameless Hero,” followed by five blocks of blacked-out space. This conveniently fits the letters for “Kevin,” but he also could simply be an expy of the character.
Further examining the reveal art, the symbols on the top-right actually send us a message. It reads “Did you see? Amphoreus has ushered in the dawn.” While it’s obvious that Amphoreus' story will continue in future updates, could we witness the arrival of Era Nova this soon?
It’s good to note that the update where Phainon goes live coincides with Honkai Star Rail’scollaboration with Fate/stay night. However, bothSaberandArcherwill have their own type of banner called “Special Collaboration Banner” and will not share pity count with Phainon’s and the other limited-time characters' banners.
